There are a lot of ways to fight the smartphone addiction.Stuff like get a real alarm clock, replacing the original item which the smartphone replaced with the original item itself like calendar, wrist watch and other stuff are quite effective. I've tried them and really loved it.
But this is about a different experience I stumbled upon accidentally but couldn't help not sharing it.
This may sound dumb to some people out there but this is for the people who identify themselves as someone who wouldn't hesitate to try out the experience.
Honestly I wouldn't have tried that out and keep repeating the stuff if not by discovering it by accident.
Why am I writing This ?
So to be brutally honest here I was a smartphone addict. The person who'd just keep using the phone for no valid reason at all, mindlessly scrolling, playing games or binge watching only to regret it later after seeing my friend's talk about how they spent time learning something new or hitting a fitness goal.
But at the same time,I never considered uninstalling anything as I didn't have that will power basically. If you can relate to this personally, keep reading if it reminds you of someone consider sharing this with them. They might be thankful.
The Method.
Hard reset.Yep.Sound's crazy? You know what's crazier? Not trying this out and getting hooked to the smartphone 24/7.Let that sink in.
So before I explain the "Why" factor I usually do,let me share with you the incident that made this happen.I was just messing around trying unauthorized android apps (which I highly recommend not to at this point).I guess something happened that messed with the memory and my phone became very slow to respond to touch and I felt a delayed vibration feedback when I typed on the keypad.
I got pissed off and hard reset it.I lost all my personal data and to my surprise I lost that personal feel I had to it.Something about it felt so new.Just like that day I got it new.And I don't remember being addicted as soon as I got it.
There's where I realized,Smartphone addiction is a process that takes time and more customization to get into that addictive comfort zoned feel.
Right from the wallpaper to the apps that I couldn't uninstall everything was new now and that helped me to curb the addiction that day.So here's what is feel about
Why it works ?
This is what i refer to the fresh start mindset.when you give yourself an opportunity to start over, you are more likely to be motivated towards the result it brings.
Another factor is the friction. The thought of me downloading those large games and addictive apps would be time consuming which in turn would get me back into the addiction track, made more sense.
If you plan on doing this,Please take a backup of your personal data and files you don't want to miss on.You'll be rewarded with a faster phone, that is very less likely to waste your time. Thanks for reading. As always,
