So this post covers all you need to know about burnout from what causes a burnout, symptoms to find if you feel you are experiencing it and how to recover from it.Since this corona virus outbreak became a pandemic, Nurse burnout is being talked about a lot!
So if you are totally new into the productivity lifestyle like I was about an year ago, you must have probably been thinking that once you have learnt some productivity techniques and have started to implement them, you can work like a super machine 24 / 7 .
This is because you feel you weren't able to do that only because you were lazy to do anything before. But the fact is you can get tired of overworking also, this is the non obvious side of the story when it comes to productivity.
You get super tired of what you love to do and you feel a temporary loss of attachment towards something that you always claimed was your passion. This happens when you load yourself up with so much to do without frequent breaks in between and it is called burnout.
In technical terms burnout can be defined as the state of mind that is physically , mentally and emotionally exhausted. You lose interest in everything you loved to do and you would even start to question yourself whether you were passionate about that something you did joyfully in the first place.
Mislead by information on the Internet which says hustle, you can never be tired doing things you truly love and all that good stuff,
I further pushed myself into studying 3 different courses per day, preparing for my semesters, writing blog posts and making Instagram posts, and so more, I became both physically sick and mentally sick of the entire process.
It took me two to three days of chilling to get back to the monthly goals i set for myself.
What is Burnout ?

To be honest with you guys I never believed this until i experienced it.

Psychology of it.
When we undergo stress, the adrenal gland releases three hormones namely cortisol, adrenaline and no-adrenaline.
So cortisol will increase the blood sugar levels with high amounts of readily available energy and the other two hormones help to get the job done quickly.
This will not be visible until the stress is experienced for quite sometime.maybe 3 to 4 days.
However, extreme or prolonged stress over time can make your body do the stuff which it can normally do voluntarily do which leads to physical symptoms and disorders in our body called burnout.
What are the symptoms of burnout if i want to know whether I have one ?
1) You experience sleeping difficulties
You might feel insomniac or super fresh with a lot of thoughts running through your mind which does not allow you to sleep.
2) The Sudden "Short tempered " personality trait.
If you notice your friends telling you."Man, I didn't know you were so short tempered all these years" or people telling a notable difference in your levels of patience, It might be due to burnout.
3) You aren't open to any new ideas or suggestions / experience close mindedness.
You know you aren't the smartest in the room, but you just can't settle down to make a discussion on the next move to something or what could be the better possibility to do something. You just want the stuff to get over sooner,so you exhibit the state of close mindedness.
4) You work with less efficiency.
You now have everything set,bit just can't operate with the maximum efficiency. You feel your efficiency has gone down significantly.
5) You don't take care of yourself.
This is when you constantly feel you need not exercise or take a shower or you don't mind eating junk food all of a sudden. However this symptom is also applicable if you have depression.
Steps to recover from a burnout.
1) Stop whatever you are doing if the situation permits you to.
This may sound hard and isn't possible but you can consider your weekend as a day in which you have stopped working. There's a huge difference in the way you see stuff.Instead of partying or thinking about your goals and targets, just mentally assume that you've stopped working totally.
2) Take a meaningful break.I repeat, meaningful break.
Don't call that 5 to 10 minutes you scrolled social media as a break from your work.Taking a break must mentally detach you from everything and every thought of work.
3) Say No to more work.
This may sound hard or even foolish to people to let go of new opportunities, but when there is one thing you need to remember or recall. That is,you can do anything. But not everything.
4)Take care of yourself.
You can take a good amount of rest, start exercising or meditation or eat something you like.Self love is the key to every solution.
