Smartphone addiction has become the talk of every day. Especially when your parents relate it to each and every thing you face. If you are born anywhere around the 90 s,you must have smiled by now as it would be totally relatable to you.
Our generation is the luckiest to be the first to use many technologies. And most of our parents really have a hard time due to the additional parenting stress they undergo, raising us as children who explore things that are totally new to them and are unaware of the negatives it can bring in our lives. So coming back to the topic, why should you replace your smartphone alarm with a conventional alarm?
It is because of the fact that it can have a good impact on your mind leading to a great impact on productivity. Try asking your parents, how their mornings were like, back in those days when there weren't smartphones and if you come from a village background, chances are that your parents woke up to good stuff like sound the rooster right after sunrise or the early morning worship songs from the nearby temples or the prayer call from the nearby mosques.
Even if they weren't from the village background, they had better things to do right after waking up. Now let us come to our scenario. We wake up to the alarm,(not to mention that half of us snooze it all the way until someone wakes us up) and what's the next thing that continues? notifications.
And that's the problem. Your morning time is dedicated entirely into what's happening around the world, who's birthday was midnight, or the discontinued conversation like as if the person form the other side is going to pull the trigger on you if you didn't reply and then comes, brushing the teeth. This is probably the worst way to start your day and here's why.
The Psychology of it.
The early morning time is the best time for a lot of things that add value to your life. That's the time your mind is fresh and can absorb a lot. And why do you want to choose the notifications instead? Or. Why look into a blue screen when you can look at the beautiful sunrise or stand in the balcony and breathe in the fresh air?
There's a lot of things you can do right after you wake up like prayer or meditation or exercise or reading books or even spending time with your own self in your own thoughts. When is the last time you did that? Can you even recollect that? Most people can't.
Spending time with yourself can lead to a lot of self love and prevent depression and that's something majority of us lack is what i feel. I do have a work around for this if you don't have an alarm clock in hand. Turn off WiFi and switch to airplane mode the night before you sleep.
Trust me, you'd wake to a new day. Now you'd have better things to focus on right in the morning instead of unwanted messages or anything similar. Remember, in order to own your day, you have to own your morning first.
Stay safe and wash hands regularly.
